Spent a fabulous few hours in school this morning. Mr Roberts had arranged for all Governors to visit the school (if available) and spend time with pupils and staff. Most of the governors had managed to get time off work, or free up their diaries. We were given "free reign" to wander the school anad observe lessons and ask questions of the teachers and pupils.
Unfortunately I could only stay till 11am, but spent a really enjoyable 2 hours wandering around the infants. I watched a Reception Class PE lesson (Mrs Watkin Carter managed to move around with the children despite being very pregnant!), watched the children playing in nursery and sat in with Year 2 while they were practising the "Jolly Phonics". It was facinating to see how the use of the Welsh language has become integral to all lessons, with the children totally used to listening/ answering in Welsh.
All the governors I spoke to really enjoyed the opportunity to meet staff and gain more insight into how our children are taught - thank you Mr Roberts and staff for making it such an enjoyable experience!

8th September 2009
Had a quick conversation with Mr Roberts this morning just to check everything going ok - so far so good!
Full governors meeting planned for a few weeks time, so will catch up on everything properly then.

3rd September 2009: Back to School!
Well....here we are back after the holidays, it always amazes me how 6 weeks seem to fly!
Have decided to give Mr Roberts a few days before I phone him to see how everyones setting down. Hope all the new nursery children don't find their first day too daunting.
On a personal note, today is the first day for 11 years that I have not have a child in the Primary School - I feel lost....!...however...still have two nieces in the school and one nephew still to come - so at least another 11 years of contact...!
